MY INSPIRATION FOR GOODNIGHT MY HONEY BUNNIES

I believe the things you loved and gave you joy as a small child can inspire you your whole life. I loved stories and nature and the living creatures from bugs to snakes to bunnies to horses that I found both in nature and depicted in stories. Our many family car trips were a time for each member of the family to create the next sentence in a made-up story. When I saw Kim’s charming and whimsical animal depictions and scenes in one of her murals, I immediately wanted to create a story about them. The process – from photographing the murals to writing and rewriting the story and then photoshopping the images for the book - took a full year. The story, about two curious bunnies, who have a full day of adventure while their mother is away, get lost and afraid as night falls, but finally get home tired but safe, is the perfect transition to the lullaby album that helps children go to sleep and is offered as a free download with the book. I played, composed and/or arranged all the songs in an album created to calm and sooth adults and children alike. Reading to children at bedtime is one of the most important things a parent or caretaker can do to establish trust and a love of learning. And a lullaby album can be a wonderful part of this bedtime tradition.
